Nobody can buy a place on a list here. This page explains how the lists are actually made, including the part most sites leave out.
How a place gets on a list
The Top Ten Wonders lists were developed by the site creator, and his experience travelling to nearly all of those listed. The other destinations shown on this site, each with the months that actually suit it best to visit, were created by again the creators input and experience, but also by researching different sites and locales in detail. Nothing has been added to a list because a brand asked, paid, or sent us anything.
How the writing is produced
We will be straight forward about this, because plenty of sites are not. The prose on this site is drafted with the help of an AI language model, working from the facts, details and experience of our own. Each is then put through a fixed set of rules before it can be published. The model is then provided the real facts for each place and told not to invent any others…it cannot choose the destinations. Every page may well say something honest about the downside of a place, as a guide with no drawbacks is really an advertisement. This does not make the writing perfect and we are not claiming it does, but it makes it accurate about the things that can be checked, and it makes the process the same every time. Where you find a mistake, please let us know, and we will make the adjustment.
What we will not do
- Sell a position in a ranking, or accept payment to describe a place more warmly.
- Publish a paid article dressed up as an ordinary guide.
- Remove an honest criticism because a business asked us to.
- Copy another site's writing, or reproduce encyclopedia text as our own.
Keeping pages current
Travel facts go stale. Prices rise, opening hours change, trails close, and a place that goes quiet in March becomes busy in August. Each page carries the date it was last updated at the top. If a page looks old to you, treat it as old, and check the official source before you rely on it.

Send corrections to info@toptenwonders.com. If you are correcting a fact, a link to something official helps us act on it quickly. We do not charge for corrections and we do not require anyone to ask through a PR agency.
