Affiliate disclosure
Some links on this site earn us a commission if you book or buy. You pay the same price, and commission never buys a place on a list.
The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and then book or buy something, we may be paid a commission by that company. You pay exactly the same price either way. The commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your pocket.
Who we work with
We take part, or intend to take part, in affiliate programmes run by accommodation, tour and retail companies. These currently include Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Viator and the Amazon Associates programme. Others may be added over time.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
What commission does not buy
- A place on any list, or a higher position on one.
- Kinder wording, or the removal of a drawback.
- The order in which destinations appear.
Rankings are decided before any commercial link is added to a page. Our editorial policy explains how that decision is made.
How to spot them
Booking and shopping links are grouped in clearly marked boxes, separate from the writing. Where an affiliate link appears inside the text, this page and the notice in the footer serve as the disclosure required by the United States Federal Trade Commission and by similar rules elsewhere.
Advertising
This site also carries advertising. Adverts are supplied by advertising networks and are not chosen by us page by page. An advert appearing next to a destination is not a recommendation of that advertiser, and advertisers have no say over what we write. How advertising affects your data is covered in the privacy policy.
If something goes wrong with a booking
Your booking contract is with the company you booked through, not with us. We cannot change, cancel or refund a booking made on another site, and we are not the party responsible if that company fails to deliver. Take any problem to them first.
